Reila's Travel tips
1. Do a lot of research.
a. Hotel. Check out all the best hotels in the area. Choose the one which has safe surroundings, safety should be the priority. I remember booking a hotel because of the low rate but ended up cancelling our booking when we learned that the hotel is located in the red light district. Also, read hotel reviews from people who have been in the hotel so you would know the advantages and disadvantages of staying in the hotel.
b. Transportation. Know the full address of the hotel you're staying in and the tourist spots that you're going to. If you're commuting, research on the best type of vehicle to ride, whether MRT, bus, public utility jeep or tricycle and the transportation expense. If you're driving your car, download a map, I recommend Google maps, and check out the directions.
c. Laws. If you're travelling abroad, research the laws and rules of the country that you're going to. Like in Singapore where chewing gum is prohibited.
2. List all the things you should bring ahead of time and review it everyday to make sure you haven't forgotten to write down anything. When you're packing, pack according to the order on the list so you won't miss out on anything. Some of the items that we always bring on a trip are: camera, cellphones, chargers, wallets, IDs, clothes, jackets, shades, ready-to-eat snacks and toiletries.
3. Make a list of expenses. Check out how much you will spend on food, transportation, entrance fees, tickets nd rentals.
4. Have a positive attitude. You may experience flight delays or cancellations, long queues while checking in, rude people you may meet, but always have a positive attitude. Always keep the smile on your face and enjoy as much as you can. Everything should be an adventure, even sleeping at the airport can be fun. ;)
